What a wonderful vacation we had this past week. My kids got to see something they had never seen before: an ocean! The Pacific Ocean to be exact.
As we were in Northern Washington, it was too cold to go swimming but, it was not too cold to go wading. The tide was out at about 10:30 am and it had just finished raining. We were able to walk out quite far and see the beautiful rainbow. We were also able to see lots of crabs, hermit crabs, shells, seaweed, and kelp.
What a treat for kids who have lived their whole lives in various deserts, in New Mexico, Montana and now Idaho. We now have collections of sea shells to look at and display. The next day we took the kids to the ocean in the evening to see the ocean when the tide was in. What fun to splash around in the waves.

Oh how fun!
We wanted to go down south to the ocean this year but our plans got spoiled by all that oil!
I just rhymed...Okay have a great day!
Looks like fun. We went to S. Cal. last year, because of traffic....we ran out of time to play in the ocean. We waved at it as w drove down the 101. Bummer! Suppose to hit the Oregon coast next summer :) Woohoo!!!
